History

The Salsa Addicted Festival (SAF) was founded in 2008 in Timișoara, Romania, with the vision of creating a vibrant space for salsa enthusiasts to gather, learn, and celebrate their passion for dance. The festival was initiated by a group of dedicated salsa dancers who sought to bring together international artists and instructors to share their expertise and foster a sense of community among dancers from various backgrounds. Over the years, SAF has grown into a premier event in the salsa dance scene, attracting participants from across Europe and beyond.

Since its inception, the Salsa Addicted Festival has evolved significantly, expanding from a modest gathering into a major international event. The festival has seen various venue changes, with the Hotel Boavista Rooftop Venue becoming its primary location in recent years. The format has also shifted to include a wider range of workshops, parties, and performances, catering to dancers of all skill levels. Attendance has surged, with hundreds of participants joining each year to experience the electrifying atmosphere and connect with fellow salsa lovers.

Notable editions of the festival include the 5th anniversary in 2012, which featured five nights of parties and a diverse lineup of international artists, and the 10th edition in 2018, which promised an unforgettable experience with top artists and workshops. The festival has consistently showcased renowned instructors such as Juan Matos, Terry & Cécile, and many others, who have contributed to its reputation as a must-attend event for salsa dancers. Each year, the festival also introduces new themes and creative elements, keeping the experience fresh and exciting for returning attendees.

Despite facing challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, which impacted many events worldwide, the Salsa Addicted Festival has demonstrated resilience and adaptability. The festival continues to thrive, maintaining its commitment to providing a welcoming environment for dancers to learn, socialize, and celebrate their love for salsa. Today, SAF stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of the salsa community, offering a unique blend of dance, culture, and camaraderie that keeps participants coming back year after year.
